Mission Statement: The mission of Phoenix Soccer Club is to provide a positive experience to children and youth through a patient and professional approach to teaching soccer. Phoenix, through the game of soccer, assists all involved youth to becoming confident individuals and competent players by providing a nurturing environment with dedicated volunteers and high standards of coaching excellence.

We are a non-for-profit, volunteer operated organization.

Programs:  We currently offer two main programs:

Summer Competitive Teams:  GV Phoenix fields summer competitive teams for players ages U9 through U19.  These teams typically compete in the West District of the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) and play teams in the Western Suburbs.  We provide a winter training program that is included in our team registration fees.  This training is provided by highly qualified professionals and can include both indoor and outdoor training.

Typical calendar for a Summer Team:

  • The trainers are scheduled to start working with the teams in January.
  • Teams normally start outdoor practices between mid March and mid April (weather permitting).
  • The league play starts about mid-May and ends around the second week of July.
  • The League Tournament begins in mid-July.
  • The Regional Tournament begins in mid to late-July.
  • The State Tournament begins the last week of July.
  • Player evaluations (i.e. tryouts) for the following summer season are held after the State Tournament.

If you are interested in playing on a summer team for Golden Valley Phoenix, please plan on attending our player evaluations in August/September (see website for more information).    Please note the registration fee covers the cost of tryouts, club-provided training, MYSA membership, and club operating costs.  The registration fee does not cover uniforms, tournaments, or other team expenses.  Each team will prepare a detailed budget before the season starts so you know what your total costs will be.

Fall Teams: Golden Valley Phoenix also fields fall soccer teams. The fall season is normally at a less intense pace than the summer season. All the soccer games are played on Saturdays and Sundays. The normal schedule is six games for the season, with the complete fall season being about eight weeks long.

Recreation: Golden Valley  also offers a developmental program for 5 - 10 year old players.  There is typically  indoor winter training sessions starting in January. Sign up for Winter Skills training is available on the web stie.  Games are played in Golden Valley with a few games played agoainst St. Louis Park.

Our primary focus is to provide an environment where players have fun, develop soccer skills, and play at a level were they can be successful.  We want both players and parents to learn more about soccer and have a good time while always keeping our Mission Statement in mind.  We hope you will play soccer with Golden Valley.  If you have any questions about our club, please Contact Us and we will get back to you.
